OK so... Totally been busting my bum here to get things finished around the house in time for the Holiday season... Aaaaaand I've totally neglected my Deviantart which is no surprise considering I can't be bothered chasing down tweens who take my stuff and stick their "way kool charactor namez" all over it to use for roleplaying.

It's irritating.

DevArt does zippo about it 99% of the time.

Soooo I have my stuff listed elsewhere on private hobby venues that help me A.) improve and B.) sell some of the pieces I have for sale.

Currently for sale?

"Hey Mister" is on eBay with a starting bid of only $95.00 and a buy it now of $150.00 which is waaay below his ankle tag's price listing when I take him to local craft shows.

He's an absolutely stunning Appaloosa custom and I the only reason I'm unloading him so cheap is because I really need to collect money for holiday gifts and stuff.

other then that? Not too much is going on :) I am offering holiday commissions so feel free to inquire about those!

Steve Irwin Tribute Portfolio UPDATE

Sun Nov 5, 2006, 7:53 AM
11/05/06: Hey y'all just a quick reminder that the deadline to turn art in by is November 15th! So everyone has about 10 days to get everything finished and shipped. If something's going to be a bit late, please let me know and I'll hold off on shipping - but I'd really like to get everything off by then because I have to leave shortly after that for a regional Quarter Horse Association show that's a bit of a lead up for Worlds.

I'm totally in love with every piece that's been sent in so far! They're all so magnificent!!!!!

Thank you guys!

-Tia

----------------

9/15/06: Guys I'm honestly in awe... the first few pieces have started to come piling in and each time I open a package I'm more and more stunned by the beauty of the images and the tenderness of the words. It's honestly inspiring. So far I've been enchanted by a gorgeous horse, warmed by a sweet little gecko, and blown away by a falcon and an angel. You really have no idea how I KNOW that if I'm so touched by your creations, Terri and the rest of the Zoo will be aswell.

I'm still open for artists. I will be until it's too late to over night something to me. PLEASE keep the word spreading!!!!

Thank you,
-Tia

----------------

Ok this is primarily to those of you already in Australia donating to this portfolio - has offered to have your donations sent to her PO Box where she lives in Perth if that would be easier on you guys.

Now it's your decision if you want to go ahead & do that & have her ship it from there or if you'd rather have yourself shipped from here in the big shipment. Please note & let me know!

IN OTHER NEWS: Guys a lot of you have been messaging me here telling me you want in on the project. It makes it a little easier on me if you send a private DA note to my account so I can privately note you back the address to send your stuff to. That way I don't have to place it out publically (which may be my next move)

& WOW! The list just keeps on growing of people who are supporting this portfolio! We should have news coverage from my local news paper & I'm calling my local wildlife refuge & zoo here to see if they want to go ahead

Steve Irwin Tribute Portfolio

Mon Sep 4, 2006, 4:29 PM

Mood: Upset mourning
Listening to: Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends
Reading: Alexander Dumas - The Count of Monte Cristo
Watching: The Illusionist

Earlier this morning, late afternoon Australia time, an icon to the world of Animal Conservation and a man who personally made educating the human world about the animal world a crusade, passed away in a tragic marine accident off Australia's coast while filming an underwater documentary.

Tragically, he's left behind his wife Teri and two yound children Bob and Bindi.

Today the world mourns beside them in utter grief - or behaps taking a harlequin side to it and running pun upon pun and joke after joke about a man who contributed more to the natural world in modern time then any other.

I believe he was the only man who was man enough to openly cry over the death of a crocodile in his care on his internationally acclaimed "Croc Hunter" TV program... That alone simply proves the fact that Steve Irwin was a legend all in his own right and will continue to be so through the success of Australia Zoo.

So today I ask my watchers to express their condolences in an artistic manner that may be presented to Teri, Bindi, Bob, and the team of Australia Zoo that do indeed need a splash of color to brighten their world while this storm clashes in turmoil around them.

I'm writing to you because I'm organizing a portfolio of art to be sent to Australia Zoo in honor of Steve Irwin & I was wondering if you'd like to donate a print or an original piece to the cause. The end result will be one of two things:

One:
The artwork will be put into a care package with individiual letters and mailed as a tribute to Australia Zoo.

Two:
The artwork will be auctioned on eBay and all proceeds will be donated to the Discovery Channel's "Crikey Fund" that's tributed to animal conservation (especially in Australia) in Steve Irwin's name.

Please feel free to contact me about this;

Thank you very much,
-Tia Lurie

Not to take away from the Steve Irwin Portfolio at all - but I've decided to go ahead and do the "100 Challenges" tag bit that's been going around after watching a few of my most favorite watch list folks decide to do so. So far I've added a few of my already done pieces (mainly photography) to the list of challenges and I'm going to set out to assimilate the rest one by fricken one as soon as I wake up in the morning. (it's currently 6 AM & I just got back from dropping a friend off at the airport so she can go back home to Vegas)

I'M OFFICIALLY A WHOLE YEAR OLDER AS OF SEPT 29TH!!!!!

& shy boy may be coming to the US to experience Thanksgiving! YAY! (for those of you who don't know who "shy boy" is... Just wait a bit. Art tells all in strange messages you will have to widen your eyeballs to see)
